Churches of the World High Resolution Old and Contemporary Photographs of Places of Worship in Scotland, UK. Scotland, Argyllshire, Iona Abbey (St Mary's Cathedral) On this website there are thousands of high resolution photographs of places of worship in Scotland. There will be cathedrals, churches, chapels, mosques, synagogues and all other religious places. The smallest church or chapel can be as beautiful as the greatest of cathedrals, not because of its' grandeur, but because of its' simplicity. A church in Scotland is known as a Kirk, and often place names will begin with that, for example Kirkoswald. The Scotland site is indexed by county and accessed via the links on this page. Please click on a county name on the side panels and then select a place name. I already have thousands of old images of churches and other places of worship, so I am confident that given time this site will become a one stop photographic archive that will be of interest to researchers, or those that just like to look at peaceful photographs. It will ultimately become a site of photographic reference and a unique internet resource - with help from the one above. Because I am from the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the images will be predominantly from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, but I hope you will send in many pictures from your country as well. With your help - and with the help of whoever you concieve to be the 'One' above us all - this site will become the finest photographic archives of places to worship on the internet. As this site is brand new I have begun by uploading the English Churches pages, and so far - alphabetically - I have finished up to and including the county of London. Yorkshire is also uploaded, as is Anglesey in Wales. When England is completely uploaded, I will continue with Scotland, Ireland and Wales, and then the other countries.
Not just a photo of the outside of your place of worship, but also of the people that use it, and the inside, and even of the graveyard, and of the interesting tombstones. In addition, if you want to tell us about your special place, then we will display your story, so as every visitor may learn and appreciate what your place of worship is about.
