High resolution old and contemporary photographs of Churches and other places of Worship in Bassenthwaite in the county of Cumbria in England, part of the United Kingdom.

Cumbria Bassenthwaite, St John's Church

Cumbria Bassenthwaite, St John's Church - built in 1878. What is now the Chapel Room was once the 15th century Chapel of Ease to St Bega's Church.

Surely some of the most picturesque countryside in England may be found in the Lake District, and Bassenthwaite is a prime example of this beautiful area. The nearby Lake of the same name is over four miles long, and is three quarters of a mile wide.

The photographs on this page were kindly shared with us by Mrs. Ros Downing.

In addition, if you want to tell us about your special place, then we will display your story, so as every visitor may learn and appreciate what your place of worship is about.
