Penrhosllugwy (often spelt Penrhoslligwy) was the family church of the Morris family of Pentre-eiriannell, which included the most famous of Anglesey brothers, the Morris Brothers - Morrisiaid Môn. They are well known scholars in their various fields, and are still studied to this day.

The church and churchyard are also well known as the burial place of 45 of the victims of the Royal Charter shipwreck, the rector at that time Hugh Robert Hughes, was the brother of Llanallgo church rector - Stephen Rhoose Hughes, and helped with the victims during those tragic days.
