During the Boer War a young man, the youngest son from the family of the Gadlys estate, volunteered to serve his country, and left, never to return. He was buried on the battle ground where he fell, but his mother had the most wonderful celtic cross memorial made, which stands within the boundaries of Llansadwrn Churchyard - this was a son who was obviously dearly loved - photos in the left hand column.
