Anglesey, Llanrhuddlad, St Rhuddlad's Church - consecrated 570ad

One of the local villages near the sea is known as Church Bay - this is because when sailors were returning home, or passing in the sea on a journey, the first thing they would see would be the spire of St Rhuddlad's Church. Rhuddlad was the daughter of the King of Leinster, and the church was consecrated in the year 570ad, although the church you can see now was rebuilt in the year 1858.

Bethel Chapel is well worthy of note. Most chapels are simple buildings without adornment or fuss, but in the case of Bethel Chapel it would compare with the architecture of many a fine church. It must have cut quite a figure when first built, and if anyone can supply me with a high resolution copy of any photographs contemporary with that time then I would be delighted to display them.
