Anglesey, Llanllibio, St Llibio's Churchyard and the Church House

In the middle of a small field on Anglesey, there is a stone memorial to this area where once (the welsh inscription reads) the church of St Llibio once stood, including its' cemetery. Research shows that there was a church founded here during the 6th century, which was here continuously until the early 18th century.

This memorial stone was erected by the Reverend Hugh Wynne Jones - rector of the nearby Llantrisant church, of which Llanllibio church was a chapel of ease, in other words, this church was a subsidiary of Llantrisant.

The shape of the Llan (churchyard) may still be seen in this field, and I am in little doubt that there are burials here, although there are no visible graves. A standing stone in the same field may well once have been a corner stone of the church itself, but that remains supposition on my behalf.
