To find the remains of Llanlleiana (Llanlleianau) Llan (or churchyard) I only had two things to go on. One was a report in a mid 19th century gazetteer that there was a ruin hereabouts, with little of the church remaining, but an abundance of grave markers. Secondly, a 1910's OS map marked the spot where there was a ruin. I believe that the church, which was a chapel of ease to Llanbadrig church, may have been redundant about the first quarter of the eighteenth century, but I cannot recall where I may have read that.

I knew that the location was close to Dinas Gynfor iron age hillfort, so I approached it from the nearest public footpath. After quite a walk of about 2 or three miles - via footpaths that were dangerously close to the sea cliffs - I came across the Llan (or churchyard) just off from Porth Llanlleiana.

Nothing now remains of any grave markers, or indeed the church itself, only the enclosure (the Llan) that once housed the church. The Llan is a rectangular shape. Knowing that I would have struggled to make it back the way I had came, I headed for a nearby new build house on a farm, but could find no-one thereabouts. I headed up the farm track from there, and came to the farm gate. On the other side was a sign that read 'Llanleiana', and realised this was Llanlleiana Farm. If the farmers are in and will give permission, then this is a MUCH easier way to view what is left of this ancient Llan. The GPS reading is 387949 at 79ft above sea level.

It was quite pleasing to be the first to post this churchyard on the internet. It would - in my opinion - be so sad if holy sites like this were lost to the wind of time.
