Churches of the World High resolution old and contemporary photographs of Churches and other places of Worship in Llanfihangel Ysceifiog (Pentre Berw and Gaerwen) in the county of Anglesey (Sir Fôn) in North Wales, part of the United Kingdom. Anglesey, Llanfihangel Ysceifiog Old Church - before the service On Sunday 7th September 2008 the Rector of the Church of St Michael's in Pentre Berw (Gaerwen) on Anglesey - the Reverend Emlyn C. Williams - led a service of holy eucharist at the old church of Llanfihangel Ysceifiog. During the middle 19th century a new church named the same, and dedicated to the same saint, was built nearer to what had become the centre of the local village, and as such the old church became disused, although very much a part of everyone's hearts, not least because of the loved ones still buried there. Recent reports had reached the church that there had been some occult activity at the site, using the old church as a meeting place, and lights had been seen there late at night. The service of holy eucharist was to bring the site back to the church and to show anew the love felt, not only by the congregation but by all locals for this ancient site. A temporary cover for the nave and chancel was erected, and a makeshift altar was put in place, and even the ancient silver was brought from the vaults. A highly charged congregation listened intently to the bi-lingual service, led by the passionate Rector. If the church is to rebuild its' congregations, particularly to include the young, then it will be through the enthusiasm and obvious love of the likes of this rector.
