Around the yaer 460 a.d. Pabo founded a church on the spot of the current church in Llanbabo.

Some time between 1649 and 1685 an ancient engraved gravestone was discovered in the church graveyard by the sexton, but it was not until about 1730 that the writing was translated ,and only then was it realised this was the gravestone of St Pabo, who had not only founded this church, but had previously been a King of the British people.

The effigy on the gravestone clearly shows that he is wearing a crown, and possibly carrying a sceptre. The stone now hangs on the north wall of the church interior. The tombstone is engraved with the words HIC IACET (Here Lies) PABO POST PRUD....... the rest is now illegible.

It is written that on the outside church boundary wall, there is a stone that is engraved with the face of the devil. I tried to find it, but because of the water surrounding the outside of the 'Llan', the border trees that needed cutting, and without the proper clothing, it was impossible. I do believe that I was glad I couldn't find it!.
